Here’s a small collection of photos from two places I really love in Austria.
I often go for local walks here in Pilsbach, Upper Austria, and my wife and I enjoy hiking around the mountains in Mühlbach, Hochkönig at the weekends.
Being outdoors here in all four seasons helps keep us fit and active, and certainly provides some great scenery and lots of photographic inspiration.
There’s plenty more shots like this on my website Fireplace photography

I've held a fascination for photography ever since my school days, which was many years ago :-)
Recently though, photography has evolved into my primary interest, providing a a welcome escape from work and a much closer connection to the natural world.
Throughout the years, I've switched camera systems a few times, and presently, I’m using the Hi-Res Nikon Mirrorless Z system. Although the gear can be important, it is in reality the photo that truly counts. Just being there at the right moment is the most important factor for that, no matter what  camera you happen to have with you !
Wishing you all good light!

Captured on a day in 2023 near Stegmoosalm, this photo channels nostalgia through an old Yashica film camera + B&W film, somehow enhancing that naturally monochrome mountain setting.
A bird's shadow gracefully passes over a slanting rooftop in Mühlbach, creating a striking silhouette against a chimney and mountainous backdrop.
The transformative magic of pristine new snow is seen here in this peaceful scene, taken during a snowshoe walk beneath the majestic Hochkönig mountain.
Our balcony view in Mülhbach captures a brief moment of sunlight shining on falling snow, adding a warm touch to the wintry scene.
So how should the mountain decide if it's already Spring time or still caught in deep winter? Captured near Erichhütte, Hochkönig
Slowly fading into the distance, those layers of light blue hazy mountains reflect in the tranquil waters of Lake Traunsee. Nature is good at creating picturesque scenes for us !
The white poppy fields in Pilsbach only flower for a day or two. It's just a few minutes drive to this place, but you have to be there on the right day.
Atop the Mitagsstein, clouds form a straight layer just above the hills, offering a captivating view in this stitched pano.
A view straight up into the colourful canopy in the local woods at Old-Attnang
It's New Years Day today and it’s cold! That's ice covering the steep banks at the Triefen and yet the water drops are shining like diamonds in the sun
There's a special place when hiking up a foggy mountain, where you reach the top of the foggy layer and the sunrays start to shine on through
We've visited the Pronebenalm countless times. It's especially beautiful in Autumn with those bright orange trees against a mountainous backdrop.
The Pilsbach forest comes alive as bright sunlight rapidly melts away the fresh snow
